My Church Leadership Questions: 1. What is the one thing I need to know about leadership? Leaders are people who can actually take the words of Jesus and apply it to real life situations. This guides their process of a million different things like conflict resolution, making financial decisions, and how to craft vision. The better a person accomplishes patterning their life after Jesus to guide them in everyday matters…the better leader they will become. 2. What do I need to watch for? ego. the world will tell you that “your great”…you may be great, but remember who’s playbook your reading out of. Dont buy into your own hype machine—if you do you will diminish as a leader 3. If there is one verse or quote you would tell every leader to hold to their heart what would it be? what is your C.Q. ?

I LOVE I.Q. tests. I love the information on emotional intelligences E.Q..I think about integrity quotient I.Q. I love to study people, groups, interdependence, interaction, culture, birth orders, temperaments, learning styles and the like. As i have progressed from being a staff ministry leader in an organized church setting, to its structurally opposite: organic community, I have discovered that there is indeed a “COMMUNITY QUOTIENT”. A community quotient is a measure of ability to live in community. It is a powerful life skill. Taken from the simple observation of folks who have learned to live in community along with me I can look back and assess Community Quotient Characters: 1. Humility-understanding oneself as an vital part of a whole. Humility ultimately leads to all of the proceeding C.Q’s. Happy Labor Day

Its Labor Day. The day nobody works…thats so odd. Shouldn’t we call it National Picnic Day, or Non-Labor day? Any-whoo… It gave me a chance to check out where Labor Day came from and why we actually ‘celebrate’ [ I use that term loosely] the day. At the turn of the century the Central Labor Union, based out of New York City, decided to create a day to celebrate the social and labor accomplishments of American citizens. This took place around the turn of the century, about the same time Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day Lewis squared off for control of NYC. So now you know the thrilling history of another American holiday that gives us all a legitimate excuse to stay up late, and sleep in late. It actually got me thinking about our work ethic, here in the states, and how generation X & Y views all it life in general. We have become a nation of reapers. You know, like reaping and sowing. irresponsible tolerance < grace

i am always around teenagers i get to hear them speak of whom is ” cool” as far as adults to the surprise of many adults, cool is not ever someone lax, who just lets kids get away with stuff. those adults are not respected actually, and they are taken advantage of- they try to act cool and therefore cannot cool is one who thinks openly and gives mutual respect to others, it is graceful and accepting some folks mistake grace for –lax as if grace is just turning a blind eye they want others to turn a blind eye and they turn a blind eye to others but it is love to show us that we are hurting, others, ourselves it is grace a place where we experience in all of our senses absorption of the damage done work in restoring and healing a gentle stoke upon our head this responsible intolerance is grace that leads us from our grave and sets us on the only path to life Read more...
