The day is here, the dress brought in…the suit hangs in the other room waiting.

A church, close friends, best man and maid of honor…at first glance, it’s what you’d expect to see at any wedding.

But if you look closer you will surely see, that this wedding is not like any other…it is perhaps one of the most beautiful weddings you will ever witness.

Let me tell you their story before I go further, let me paint the picture of who Tim and Jill are.

They met three years ago, she was alone and lost, he immediately reached out to help her.

He stayed by her side, always keeping watch, never expecting anything in return.

She had been scarred by love, vowing never to love again…but love has a way of sneaking in when you aren’t looking.

After three years together, he asked her to marry him, for he couldn’t imagine his life without her. She said “no” once, so he asked again, and again he heard that same answer. He asked her a third time, and again she told him “no”, but he didn’t let that stop him Read more...

Since many of you don’t totally know me, I thought I would take one post and put a little history of me and what I do… so here we go.

In 2003 I started working at a small church in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. To be brutally honest it was dead. Why I was working there is a story for another blog, and another time… but for now we will just say that I felt like my efforts were best placed in this small, conservative, white church in Chicago. My plan simple. I was going to open the church to the local kids, become friends with them and love them.

I had no idea what was about to happen.

In the next 2 and a half years I was going to be flooded with hundreds [300 to 400 or so] of students–and their parents. Students from broken homes, immigrant homes, alcoholic and drug using homes, physical and sexual abuse situations…the list goes on and on.

Caucasians
African Americans
Mexicans
Puerto Ricans
Polish
Russians
Koreans

I had 6 languages in this group, English, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Korean and Greek.

Needless to say I was Read more...

i was eating dandelion salad at greektown -(a classic chicago restaurant) -last week when one of the men went to the bathroom.
he returned to inform us that there were 6 bathrooms. 5 for women. 1 for men.
the owner is obviously a architectural genius with a new innovation based on his knowledge that :
woman and men are different.
not so. some say.
deal with it.some say

enjoy it. i say.

i love being a woman. i love accessories, skirts and high heels. i love nurturing and leading at the same time. i love begin pregnant, and letting men be men.

i think there are roles.oh, i dont want to piss anyone off. the roles are not so labeled and i dont intend for that. women can be anything, so can guys, i believe that. but there is a beauty in gender.

balance seems to be a key. i think the culture screws it up a bit. in each gender we seem to want what is impossible. both sides of all the coins, one or the other. i think it causes fights in marriages too. gender expectation. its sad because it is so workable and flexible. and that is where the individual beauty can be seen.
